Venus in the Mirror is a textile stop-motion animation reimagining traditional depictions of Venus in paintings and mythology. Here Venus’ historical themes of love, desire, and beauty shift to an emphasis on self-love and tenderness towards the body, queer sexuality, and beauty as a sensory and self-exploratory experience. This film was created for the group exhibition Venus Reincarnated at Public Functionary, curated by Dr. Margarita Lila Rosa. It has been screened at Cinefilmu Film Festival in St. Paul, MN, Serpentina Arts Film Festival in Minneapolis, MN, and Render Me Softly Festival in Cleveland, OH.
