Luca Isa Trujillo (b. 2000) is a queer, colombian-american  stop-motion animator and fiber artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Luca was raised in Lawrence, KS and studied Studio Art at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, where they completed the St. Olaf Emerging Artist Program 2024-25. They are currently a part of the Incubator Residency at Public Functionary in Minneapolis. Luca's work has been exhibited at Public Functionary, Conkling Gallery, PLOT Gallery, Q.arma Gallery, and the Flaten Art Museum. Their films have been screened in the Serpentina Film Festival, Cinefilmu Festival, and Franconia Sculpture Park.

                             artist statement

I connect fiber art and stop-motion animation as a form of experimental storytelling. I work with yarn, natural fibers, fabric, paper-mache, weavings and handmade paper to create work that blends physical craft with the animating process. My animations are rooted in the senses, dance-like movement, and tactile materials. I am inspired by folklore, dreams, and magical realism as a lens for emotional processing and reckoning. In my work I explore the tender and challenging relationships between human bonds, the body, religion, queerness, and the natural world.
